Community Grows Community

The Columbus Education Justice Coalition was founded by CCS families, students, neighbors, and educators who were committed to continuing the fight for education justice and transformation in our city and our schools.

Since the summer of 2022, after the historic CEA strike with parents, families & students on the picket lines with our educators, the Columbus Education Justice Coalition has:

  • Organized 1,000+ community-led conversations across the city that identified Relationships, Reinvestment, and Reconstruction as the top priorities of families and students (2023).

  • Led the fight against school closings and won a pause for community engagement with students, parents, families, and educators (2024).

  • Collaborated with Columbus Parent Impact & All in for Ohio Kids to create Board Watch, a subcommittee committed to school board accountability after citizens passed the school levy (2023).

  • Created community education opportunities on the full-service Community Schools Model and supported the work of families, educators, & students with CCS’s pilot Community Campus School at Northland HS.

  • Advocating & fighting for increased access to information for immigrant and English Language Learners (ELL) families on school closure & related school information from the district and board of education (2023, 2024).

  • Fighting against harmful anti-trans and anti-LGBTQIA+ bills and policies that impact our students, educators, and our schools. (2025).

Your gift today will help us to continue the fight for education justice in our city and our schools.
