  • May Day - National Day of Action!

    05.01.25 4:30-7:00PM

Join CEJC and the Central Ohio Rank and file Educators (CORE) to protest and picket at the Ohio Statehouse on May 1, from 4:30pm-7 as we fight for:

    • Fair and Full-Funding of Ohio Schools

    • Collective Bargaining Rights

    • Protections for our students, families, and communities

    • Academic Freedom and Voice

Attacks on public services are attacks on the people. We're calling for all educators, workers, students, families, and communities, to show our state and federal government our power in numbers and show we will do whatever it takes to win.

  • CEJC Youth Zine Project

    Now thru 05.19.25

Join the Columbus Education Justice Coalition for our inaugural Youth Zine Project! The goal of the Zine Project is to amplify the voices of our Columbus youth as they discuss their thoughts, feelings, and experiences on the impact of today's political climate. Educators and youth organizations across Central Ohio are encouraged to participate, with priority given to those with youth in Columbus City Schools.

Please complete the form and you will receive a zine kit with instructions, themes, basic materials to get you started and presentations to use to introduce zine-making to your students. CEJC will cover printing and assist with distribution of the zines at the end of the project.

  • Petition to Protect CCS Trans Youth

On Wednesday, March 19, Columbus City Schools trans students’ safety was violated when the administration abruptly reverted students’ chosen names in CCS’s systems to the names on their birth certificates. This change was made with no notice to the affected students or families, and despite the fact that their parents and caregivers had formally requested that the district use their children’s chosen names.

This action caused immediate harm: a forced outing of CCS’s trans students, some of whom have been known to their teachers and classmates as their chosen name for years. According to a study in the Journal of Adolescent Health, students who are allowed to use their chosen names at school experience 71% fewer symptoms of severe depression and a 65% decrease in suicide attempts.

Schools should be safe places for all students. We demand dignity over discrimination.

  • Our schools and our futures are #InOurHands

The Columbus Education Justice Coalition has worked tirelessly since 2022. Our groundbreaking network of parents, caregivers, community members, and educators have made it their mission to ensure the people closest to the classroom have a seat at the table as respected decision-makers for our schools.

For the first time ever during CEA’s negotiations, a parent or community observer will attend every session, alongside a rank-and-file CEA observer. This is what bargaining for the common good, with and for the community is about!

Our message is clear. We are NOT afraid of politicians. Together with our families, community partners, and educators, our schools and our futures are in our hands!
