Our Movement in Action
At the Columbus Education Justice Coalition, we believe that the fight for equity and justice in public education is inseparable from the fight for justice in our communities. Our photo gallery captures powerful moments from school board meetings, rallies, protests, community forums, and grassroots gatherings—each one a testament to our collective commitment to transforming education through people power.
We center the voices of those most impacted by educational inequities, because we know that "nothing about us without us" isn’t just a slogan—it’s a principle that guides everything we do. These images reflect the energy, urgency, and unity of a movement rooted in love, resistance, and the vision of a just future for all students.
“Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.”

Closing the Gap: The Impact of School Closures on Columbus’ Southside
For years, schools on the South Side of Columbus have closed — reshaping neighborhoods, displacing students, and altering the fabric of entire communities. Closing the Gap examines the human impact of Columbus City School closures and asks a critical question: If closures save money… where does it go? Through the voices of former students, business owners, community leaders, and advocates, this documentary explores what was lost, who was impacted, and what could be rebuilt through a Community Schools model rooted in shared decision-making and neighborhood investment. This film was created in partnership with Honesty for Ohio Education and premiered as part of The People’s State of Our Schools community gathering. The future of our schools should never be decided without the voices of the people they serve.
